Accept each other, despite differences

When a new baby arrives there can be a tendency for us to gush and use words like ‘beautiful’ and ‘perfect’ – obsessing about the way that newborn looks.

It’s done with the best of intentions, caught up in the joy that surrounds celebrating a new arrival.

But what happens when that new baby doesn’t look the way we were expecting?

When Chris and Chrissie Neate’s son Xander arrived in 2007 he was one of the 700 babies born each year with a cleft lip or palate, a condition believed to be caused by genetic and environmental factors coming together in a way which can’t be predicted or prevented.
